Robin Williams is the Breo Hero du jour, read our chat with the SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) maestro below on his motivation, proudest achievements, heroes and tips for aspiring SUP-ers.
How long have you been Stand Up Paddleboarding?
Approx 6 years
How did you get involved?
First tried SUPing on a non-windy day in the winter when it wasn’t possible to surf or sail, I’ve been hooked ever since!
What’s your proudest achievement so far?
I’ve won quite a few events over the years, however I’m most proud of helping other people get in to SUPing and seeing their progression within the sport.
What motivates you?
Time is precious so I like to get out everyday and do something active to make the most of my time!
Who’s your hero?
Cliche in the watersports world, but Laird Hamilton attacks life and health and fitness with great passion which is hugely motivating!
What are your hopes for the future?
Continue being active and helping others to be active as well! I do have a couple long distance endurance challenges burning a hole in my mind.. more on that at a later stage
Any tips for aspiring SUP-ers?
Try somewhere sheltered with flat water to start with. Use a wider board to start as this will provide more stability! Come and try where I hangout at lagoon.co.uk
How would you spend £1 million?
I’d buy a private beach and put a training facility there which would be available for anyone to attend and improve their SUP skills and beach fitness
